Holistic Approach to Recovery

Alcoholism, substance abuse, technology misuse, and gambling are connected to mental health and family issues. That's why we offer psychological therapy in addition to addiction counseling. If medication is appropriate for a co-occurring mental health condition, our top-tier psychiatrists are available to guide each person toward a path of healing.

Support for Families

Alcoholism, substance abuse, technology misuse, and gambling affect the whole family, so we offer support to spouses, parents, children, and siblings. We provide individual and couples counseling, as well as therapy for children.

Frequently Asked Questions

What defines addictive behavior?
Engaging in an activity to the point that it becomes a dependency – you can't stop. It fills a void and offers temporary relief until you feel the need for that substance/behavior again.
What substances or behaviors are addictive?
Marijuana, opioids, psychedelics, and other mood-altering drugs – even painkillers that a doctor prescribes – can become addictive. Excessive drinking, gambling, technology use, and certain behaviors can become addictive as well.
When is technology use considered an addiction?
Do you use technology to cope with your life's stressors? Does the use of technology cause embarrassment? Are you tired of hiding it? Have you been trying to stop unsuccessfully? Problematic technology use is a behavioral compulsion, also known as addiction.
How much does treatment cost?
Our outpatient treatment is covered by most insurance plans and Medicaid.
How much of a time commitment will this be?
Generally, treatment includes one individual therapy session per week and one group therapy session per week. Additional psychotherapy and medication management may be added for co-occurring conditions.
Will my therapist understand my background and culture?
Our therapists come from the same communities as you - with an understanding of your culture, background, and values.
How is my privacy protected?
Due to the nature and sensitivity of the program, Hearts and Minds employs the strongest devices of privacy and discretion.
